When creating our pens, we turn a variety of kiln dried woods from around the world. They range in color from light, such as Holly, to the darkly colored African Blackwood. There are woods that have high contrasting grain patterns like Zebrawood or Black & White Ebony or some that have a consistent grain pattern with little variation such as Paduak or Wenga. Some of the most beautiful wood pens are created using Burl blanks due to their unusual grain patterns. Burls are an abnormal growth that occurs on a tree and is often caused by damage or disease.
The wood used on each pen is identified for your information. If you see a particular pen but would like it in a different wood please let us know and we will be happy to make one for you!
